About The Third Beat
Our Mission
Our mission at The Third Beat Dance Studio is to create a welcoming space where people come together through dance—to learn, connect, express themselves and find their flow. Rooted in social dance with a focus on Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and Tarraxo and guided by knowledgeable, passionate teaching, we celebrate individuality, connection and the joy of moving together while building a community where everyone has a place to belong.
Dance Styles & Levels
Salsa On1
A lively partner dance danced to Salsa music, with partners moving in a linear pattern. Salsa On1 emphasizes turns, partnerwork, rhythm and playful interaction, with the basic step beginning on the first beat of the music.
Dominican Bachata
Rooted in the Dominican Republic, where Bachata originated, this style is playful, rhythmic and highly connected to the music. Expect expressive footwork, syncopations, improvisation and plenty of interaction between partners.
Beyond the Steps
Solo classes help you become a more well-rounded social dancer, developing the musicality, body awareness, coordination, groove and personal expression that partnerwork alone can’t always teach. The more comfortable you are with your own movement and the music, the more you have to bring to the partnership—making your dancing more confident, creative, adaptable and fun. Be it Groove & Flow, Juicy Hips or Musicality, they will all help you develop different aspects of your dancing, rarely taught in groups classes.
Cuban Salsa (Casino/Timba)
Also known as Casino and it's more modern style Timba, Cuban Salsa is a joyful, rhythmic style characterized by circular partner movement, Cuban body motion and lots of playful interaction. It draws strongly from Cuban music and dance traditions and has a relaxed, social feel.
Kizomba
Originating in Angola, Kizomba is a grounded, connected partner dance characterized by smooth walking, subtle weight changes and close communication between partners. Connection, musicality and the feeling of moving together are at the heart of the dance. There are many styles from the root of Semba, Kizomba fusion, Urban Kiz and Douceur.
